The Effects of Ethrel , Lime - Nitrogen and Gibberellin on the Breaking of Dormancy in Campbell Early (Vitis Labruscana . B .)

Abstract

|
Dormant cuttings of Campbell Early were applied with Ethrel(10-1000ppm), Lime-Nitrogen(10-30%), Gibberellin(10-100ppm) for the purpose of breaking dormancy from Dec. 23, 1970. until Feb. 24, 1971.
Ethrel, at 10ppm(Dec. 23) and at 100ppm(Jan. 14), was effective in breaking dormancy. After termination of dormancy, Ethrel-treatment was not effective. Lime-Nitrogen was effective only when it was applied in Jan. 14. Cuttings with GA(10-100m) showed prolonged sprouting. Natural breaking of dormancy in Campbell Early, seems to be Feb. 4. Change of Rooting-percentage, dry weight of top and root was similar to change of sprouting. It is interesting to note that root growth was accelerated at the high concentration(1000ppm) treated in the period of dormancy.
